The Northern Cape Provincial Government’s Debt Is At R3,5 Billion – Dr Zamani Saul

Speaking in his capacity as ANC Provincial Chairperson at the party’s two-day Provincial  Executive Committee (PEC) Legotla which took off this morning in Kimberley, Dr Saul decried the province’s debt which he said could only be remedied through the “cutting of wastages and inefficiencies.”

Accruals: R1,7 billion – monies largely owed to “emerging small businesses”
Unauthorised Expenditure: R900 million

According to Dr Saul, Sol Plaatje Municipality is owed R500 million by provincial government departments. He pointed out that this municipality will become the “engine” of the “modern, growing and successful Northern Cape province.”

A War Room on Poverty and Unemployment is to be established. Whilst the province’s economic growth will be showcased through the an Investment Book flagging “bankable projects.”

Dr Saul also called for “minimum benefits” to be sought by Cabinet Members out of the Ministerial Handbook.

The Lekgotla will be breaking into Commissions; Economic Transformation, Social Transformation and Legislature and Governance.
